Labman Automation required coverage for their welding area, to protect workers from welding flash, also known as arc eye. However, they still needed the flexibility of being able to move machinery in and out of the space as required.

The area where the curtain needed to be fixed presented several challenges that had to be overcome, as the plasterboard was not stable enough to hold the curtain, and there was also underfloor heating to consider.

Solution

Due to the complexity of the environment it was necessary to carry out a site survey to allow for a clearer assessment of the situation, which is something we offer for less straight forward jobs. Following the site inspection, we were able to come up with a bespoke solution.

We therefore installed a two-piece sliding curtain, using out 300/2 welding green strips, which enabled larger machinery to be moved in and out of the area.

Following the successful and swift installation of a welding flash PVC curtain, Labman Automation workers benefited from a reduction in welding flash, and risk, in accordance with the EU regulations EU1589 and ISO 25980.

The sliding hanging system of the curtain also offered a convenient way to move machinery in and out of the welding area.
